Year End Fundraising Drive

November, 2019

 Dear friends and colleagues,

What an exciting time this is for Helping Hands!  After a year of turmoil, including the sale of United Church in Spring Valley where we housed our Outreach Center, we are securely established in new offices in West Nyack.  We have created a “Drop-In Office” for homeless people in the Darden Center in Spring Valley and have started a Mobile Outreach program, run by our able Program Manager, Anna Kobelka, in which we seek out the homeless to provide services to them.  All this, of course, is in addition to our long-established breakfast program that continues to operate from its traditional premises and serves, on average, over 60 people a day.

The fire we experienced late last year destroyed our laundry and showers. While we haven’t been able to replace the laundry, we have sought out shower facilities, such as those at Stony Point Conference Center, where the good folk welcome us when we bus our guests there for a hot shower. Such a blessing for a homeless person – to be clean!

Will you please help us with our work?  Helping Hands – and therefore the homeless men and women whom we serve – is utterly dependent upon our donors and volunteers.  We will not be hosting a gala benefit this year, which makes it all the more important for me to ask for your generous donation at this time.  Please help us provide assistance to the people who – for a multitude of reasons, are homeless in a community that is part of the richest society the world has ever known.

Donations may be made by check, using the enclosed envelope, or through our website:  (Please note on your check if you wish all or part of your donation to be allocated to the breakfast program.)

For all that you have done in the past, I thank you; and I hope that your generosity will continue to help us now and in the future.
